Norwegian novelist Anne B. Ragde has re-written 12 of the classic moral stories of Aesops fables for Kagge Forlag. Bendik Kaltenborn has started off by illustrating three of them in his colourful, playful and distinct style. In ”The Lion and the Mouse” his illustrations literally dart off from one page to another, just like Ragdes lively language, and the tiny mouse. ”The Hare and the Turtle” and ”The Old Man and His Sons” follow up in the same great style, making Aesops Fable’s worth a new read!
Ragde and Kaltenborn have done a wonderful job opening up Aesops strange and wonderful universe to a whole new generation. We can’t help but wonder if these versions will end up as classics too..
