Earlier this year, the Parents’ Association (FAU) at Reier School reached out with an idea, to create something lasting for the children and bring new life to the schoolyard.
After raising funds to improve the outdoor area, they invited Frode Skaren, aka Uglylogo, to create a mural. The process started with the children. They were asked to draw things they love, symbols that represent them, and elements from their everyday lives. Frode then turned these drawings into a colourful composition, now spread across three large-scale murals.
The result is a joyful collaboration between Frode and the children. A visual story shaped by their imagination, identity, and creativity, and something they get to see every day.
While the final artwork looks effortless, the process behind it was anything but. Challenging weather and strict safety rules for working lifts in a busy schoolyard meant the project took 11 days to complete. By the end, it is safe to say that Frode got well acquainted with life at Jeløya.
More than just a mural, the project stands as a lasting reminder of what can happen when community, creativity, and shared effort come together.
